High Pressure-Test Facility

Description

The plant was designed to convert hydrocarbons into marketable products by hydrogenation or isomerization. While hydrogenation is mainly concerned with the saturation of double bonds and the reduction of the oxygen content, e.g. in the case of crude products from the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, isomerization is mainly used to increase the octane number of naphtha or aromatic fractions by changing the molecular structure. The plant is characterised by a high degree of flexibility and enables investigations to be carried out to determine process-engineering operating parameters and to characterise and evaluate catalysts. For this purpose, all the reactant and product lines as well as the reactant receiver are heated throughout and extensive measuring and analysis technology is installed. Together with the flexible control system, a wide range of investigation methods can be represented.
