Research topics

The research activities are located at the interface between engineering and natural sciences. At the chair, research in the field of experimental and theoretical thermodynamics is closely linked to the development of new sustainable materials, processes and products.

The main research topics are in the following areas:

  • Process Thermodynamics,
  • material thermodynamics,
  • Thermodynamics of multicomponent systems,
  • Statistical thermodynamics.

Current work focuses on:

  • Development of intensified processes for efficient, resource-conserving recycling management of material systems based on experimental and theoretical methods of thermodynamics,
  • Thermodynamic modelling of the properties of complex material systems, in particular polymers,
  • Phase transformations and kinetic phenomena in materials.
